Police received a report of the crash in the Suffolk County town of Babylon in the westbound lanes of the parkway near Exit 37 at about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, according to New York State Police.

Nassau County resident Michael Simeone, of Massapequa, was riding a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he left the roadway and struck a light pole, police said.

The motorcycle continued traveling west, crossing all three lanes of traffic, and it struck the center median guide rail, authorities reported.

State police said Simeone was ejected from the motorcycle, and he was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries.

An investigation into the crash is underway, and police asked anyone with information to call 631-756-3300.
