Memorial Park's Summer Concerts a Family Event

MAMARONECK, N.Y. - Jenny George brought the whole family out for the first of four outdoor concerts in Memorial Park this summer.

"We've come here a bunch of times," said George, a Larchmont resident. "It's a nice thing the Town does."

Families flocked in for the 7 p.m. concert featuring Jimmy and the Parrots, nearly filling the park to capacity. Jill Fisher, Town of Mamaroneck recreation superintendent, said the event, is very family oriented and pointed out all of the picnic dinners people brought with them.

The Town of Mamaroneck also provided food for those who didn't bring any, as well as margaritas specially blended with a margarita machine donated by Carlyn's Cove, a Larchmont restaurant and bar. This year's event was sponsored by Stop and Shop, Fisher said.

The Town of Mamaroneck has hosted outdoor concerts in Memorial Park for 10 years and tries to mix up the type of music played. This year, they kicked off the summer with Jimmy and the Parrots, a Jimmy Buffet cover band. They will also be showing an outdoor movie on Friday, July 22, "How to Train Your Dragon."
