Ruth Keeler Library To Host Events For Children, Meet The Author For Adults

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Ruth Keeler Memorial Library will host a variety of events throughout the year.

A schedule of times and events is below.

Sensory Story Times for Special Needs Kids and Teens:  A family oriented program for children of any age who have trouble sitting still. Friends and family welcome. Tuesdays at 4 p.m. on Jan. 14, Feb. 11, March 11, and April 8. Registration preferred but drop-ins welcome.

Inventor's Club for children in grades 2-5: Learn about the design process with Eileen Diehl, solve problems creatively and see what inventing is all about. Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 11, 18, 25 and Feb. 1, 15 and March 1, 8, 15. 

The March 8 and 15 sessions will be especially tailored for girls but boys are welcome.  Registration is available for individual sessions or all sessions.

This is a small program, so please register early. It is free and open to all.

Celebrate Chinese New Year: Children of all ages welcome. There will be games, crafts, and snacks. Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 4 p.m.

Daily activities in January  in the children's room

Tuesdays Story Time at 10:30 a.m.: Mother Goose for infants to 2-year-olds. Crafts at 4 p.m.

Wednesdays Story Time at 10:30 a.m.: preschool stories for kids 2- year-old and older. Crafts for little ones at 11 a.m. Block Party at 11 a.m.: play and build with blocks.

Thursdays Books and Puppets with Elizabeth at 10:30 a.m. for kids 2-year-old and older.

Fridays Legos  from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.   Origami from 3 p.m. 5 p.m. with Lily Davis from NSHS.

Saturdays Family Story Times at 10:30 a.m.: for kids of all ages.

Meet The Author: Dick Button: Dick Button, North Salem resident and winner of two Olympic gold medals in figure skating, award-winning sports broadcaster and graduate of Harvard and Harvard Law School will discuss his new book, "Push Dick's Button: A Conversation on Skating from a Good Part of the Last Century and a Little Tomfoolery." Sunday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m.

Presidential Scavenger Hunt: For kids of all ages. Younger children may need help with the clues. Tuesday, Feb.18 at 3 p.m.
