Briarcliff Manor's Dorothy Stone Dies at 89

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. – Dorothy Eleanor Stone, a former nurse and resident of Briarcliff Manor, died on Oct. 31. She was 89.

Born and raised in Queens, she was the daughter of Herbert and Eleanor Harper. She attended Adelphi University and worked as a registered nurse before becoming a homemaker.

Formerly a resident of Irving, she was a regular parishioner at St. Barnabas Church there.

Stone is survived by her sons Paul D. Stone with his wife Lisa Jenner Stone and Philip C. Stone with his wife Diane Minardi Stone, as well as six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Dr. Peter W. Stone in 2000 and her son Peter Stone.

A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Barnabas Church, with interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bronx, N.Y. Funeral arrangements by Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home.
