Murphy, Clinchy, Garrity Win GOP Primary

SOMERS, N.Y. -- Incumbent Mary Beth Murphy has defeated Harry Bolton in the Republican primary election for town supervisor, according to unofficial results by the county board of elections. The unofficial tally also shows Richard Clinchy and Tom Garrity defeated Bob Raffo, Jr. in the race for town council. Therefore, Clinchy and Garrity will run for the two open town council seats on the Republican ticket in November.

The unofficial results were based on 15 out of 19 Districts reporting. As of Tuesday night, Murphy received a total of 659 votes and Bolton received a total of 263 votes. Garrity received 742 votes, Clinchy received 643 votes, and Bob Raffo, Jr. received 273 votes.

The board of elections said to expect official results some time after Sept. 22 when the voting machines have all been canvassed.

Bolton’s term as town council has two years remaining. Both Bolton and Raffo can be named as write-in candidates in the November general election.
