Missing Westport Patient Found in Norwalk

WESTPORT, Conn. – Errol Shaw, a 64-year-old patient from Westport Health Care Center on Burr Road, was reported missing Sunday night around 10:30, police said.

All Westport patrols were notified and a search of the area, including the inside of the facility, was conducted. A state police K-9 was called in to assist with the search. After smelling a blanket that belonged to Shaw, the K-9 led officers south on Burr Road toward Riverside Avenue where the scent trail stopped.

Shaw's last known address was listed as the Norwalk Homeless Shelter. A Westport officer checking the area around the shelter learned that Shaw was spotted leaving a Dunkin Donuts on Westport Avenue around 11 p.m. The K-9 was once again deployed but was unable to track Shaw.

Around 3:45 a.m., Westport police received a call from the Norwalk Homeless Shelter that Shaw had just arrived. Norwalk police were notified and Shaw was taken to Norwalk Hospital.
