Carla Louise Mortelliti, Taught in Norwalk

WILTON, Conn. – Carla Louise Mortelliti, 50, wife of Jose E. Torres of Wilton, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Norwalk Hospital. Born May 2, 1961, in White Plains, N.Y., she was the daughter of Joseph P. and Lusia Olivieri Mortelliti of Elmsford, N.Y.

She worked at Bloomingdale’s and with Perugina and as owner of Café a la Mode and Carla's Flower Box. She recently worked as a seventh-grade math teacher at West Rocks Middle School in Norwalk. Mortelliti was an active parishioner at St. Philips Church in Norwalk. She enjoyed horseback riding, the companionship of her dog, flowers and gardening. She was a loving, caring and devoted member of her extended family.

She is survived by her stepchildren, Edilberto and Cathryn Torres; a sister, Margaret J. Breen of Mount Kisco, N.Y.; two brothers, Dr. Anthony Mortelliti of Manlius, N.Y., and Dr. Michael Mortelliti of Lenox, Mass., and nine nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. Friends may gather Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m. for Mass at St. Philip Church, 1 Father Conlon Place, Norwalk. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave., Hawthorne, N.Y.
