The proposal would be for Mahwah High School and Ramapo Ridge Middle School, and use HP laptops, instead of the Chromebooks, because of compatibility concerns, The Record story noted. The laptops would be used by staff, and also increase laptop carts, which are shared by teachers, including math, science and special education teachers.

As reported by The Record, Trustee Douglas D'Angelo noted that leasing instead of buying would allow the district to evolve as technology does. "It's hard to go back to the taxpayer and say, 'We're going to redo it.'"

The teachers will also be trained with the laptops and with Microsoft Office's 365 online suite.
