Commemorative Tree Planted Near Peekskill's Lake Mitchell

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- A commemorative tree planting in honor of Arbor Day took place on April 26 near Lake Mitchell in Peekskill's Depew Park.

Almstead Tree and Shrub Care donated the American Elm "Princeton" tree in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce and the 75th anniversary of the City of Peekskill.

“We are delighted that one of our newest chamber members — Almstead Tree and Shrub Care — is taking an active role in contributing to our community in such positive way," said Kish Melwani, secretary of the Chamber's board and executive team leader at ServiceByte. "This tree will symbolize the celebration of the chamber's 100 its incorporation and Arbor Day 2015 all rolled into one, for generations to come," said Melwani.

In attendance at the tree planting ceremony were Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce board members Melwani and Jane Solnick, Chamber administrative coordinator Barbara Prehal, Peekskill Parks Advisory Board member Andrew Torres and representatives from Almstead Tree and Shrub Care, including Russell Wagner.
