It happened on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 4:10 p.m. in Roosevelt.

While traveling westbound in a 2020 Toyota Rav4 on Hudson Avenue, between Elysian Terrace and North Long Beach Avenue, an unidentified female operator left the roadway and struck a tree, Nassau County Police said. 

As a result of the collision her car became fully engulfed in flames, according to police.

The Roosevelt Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. 

The woman, who was found inside the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman's name is being withheld pending family identification.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
