Catherine 'Kay' Mellone, 102, Lifelong Hackensack Resident

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Catherine "Kay" Mellone, a lifelong resident of Hackensack, died on Sunday, Jan. 1. She was 102.

Before she retired, Mellone was a seamstress for the Lilliput Company in Hackensack for many years. She was past president and member of the Rosebuds, and a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church, in Hackensack, where she was a member of the Socialites.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Kubeck; grandchildren Justin Kubeck and his wife Anna, and Jessica Lo Piccolo and her husband Vincent; and great-grandchildren Paul, Gabriella, Olivia, Mason and Preston.

Mellone was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Mellone; son-in-law Paul; and siblings Felicia Mei, Jennie Perone and Anthony Di Francesco.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on her 103rd birthday, on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 11:15 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 50 Lodi St. Burial will follow, at George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus. The family will continue the celebration of her life, with a meal, following that.
