Legal Services Of Hudson Valley Opening Peekskill Site

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Legal Services of the Hudson Valley will officially mark the opening of its Peekskill office, at 1 Park Place, on Thursday, June 19.

A grand opening celebration – to which elected officials, foundation officers, social and human service providers, schools, civic groups, the business community, the media and the general public are invited – is planned for 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Honored guests, who will make brief remarks about the organization’s work, include Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino; Westchester County Deputy Executive Kevin Plunkett; Westchester County Legislator (District 1) and former mayor of Peekskill John Testa; Westchester County Legislator (District 9) Catherine Borgia; Peekskill Mayor Frank Catalina; and Legal Services of the Hudson Valley CEO Barbara Finkelstein.

“Legal Services of the Hudson Valley opened this office in Peekskill in order to make access to justice more easily accessible to residents of northern Westchester and Putnam counties, especially seniors and veterans, who cannot afford an attorney," Finkelstein said.

"Our Peekskill staff has already participated in a number of outreach events and developed community partnerships, including a collaboration with the Peekskill Senior Center, which helps them to provide for their clients’ multifaceted needs.”

As part of the celebration for the opening of this office, Legal Services of the Hudson Valley will collect donations of backpacks and school supplies that will be distributed to children from the Peekskill and northern Westchester County through the Back to School Program run by Peekskill CAP and the Kiley Center staff.

The event is free, and refreshments will be served.
